Incorporating thousands of hand drawn images, stop motion photography, and live action, the video for “Never Years Old” was conceptualized, created, and art-directed by Angaea Cuna. An artist who experiments with the unity of traditional art, such as drawing and painting, and media arts, Cuna is a sophomore at UCLA, where she is a Design Media arts major at Broad Art Center.
“Nina, Jake, and I conceptualized it together, and the process was very organic; therefore, the story is organic,” says Angaea. “We had a small budget. I used pen, paper, coffee, sugar, paint, and borrowed equipment. The story and the protagonist are timeless and mystical.”
Previously, Nina and Jacob have performed “Never Years Old” together live at Los Angeles venues including Hotel Café and The Mint. The song has received advance airplay on WXPN-FM 88.5, a public radio station in Philadelphia, where Jacob Snider is based (the station has named him Best New Artist). His debut album Carrier was released in 2015. In October of last year, Nina and Jacob were also part of the line-up for WXPN’s tribute to John Lennon at World Café Live.
